about

Motivated by urban basement exile and beer, Peeder formed for the purpose of appreciating old Robert Nighthawk records and holding some good-natured but short-lived jams. Stumbling upon some substance beneath their dick joke moniker, someone decided it might be cool to roll tape.

Noise complaints prevented Peeder from recording in the band's first practice space, leaving the band to cart all of their gear to the first space they could find where they would be free to keep their amps at eleven all dang day long. Live at Dave's was recorded in a guy named Dave's basement in one shot on a beautifully sunny Saturday which none of the boys got to enjoy.

The album name is a play on The KLF's Live at the SSL; just as The KLF mixed their single 'live' from an expensive mixing console, Peeder's disc was recorded 'live' in an empty suburban basement nobody has ever heard of.

Live at Dave's is available at record stores in Chicago (any of 3 Reckless Records locations and Dave's Records in Lincoln Park… no that’s not the same Dave) as well as their native Toronto (Rotate This and Soundscapes), or can be mail ordered directly from the band via their Myspace or Bandcamp pages.
